St Martin de Porres

Welcome to St Martin de Porres class page on our school website.

Here you will be able to see our exciting learning activities that we get up to with Mr Fidler, Mrs Alyas, Mrs Knowles and Mrs Oldman.

Our current topic is called Great Firsts of Travel and Transport.  We will focus on sails, rails, wheels and wings. Our philosophical question is ‘Do all journeys come to an end?

Saint Martin de Porres

St Martin Godly Play

Each class at St. Patrick’s has a class saint that we learn about throughout the year. We talk about our Saint regularly and encourage the children to learn, talk and ask questions about their Saint. Each Saint has a Feast Day, where we celebrate their lives and what they did in order to become a Saint.

In Otters, our class saint is Saint Martin de Porres. St. Martin de Porres was a lay member of the Dominican order who lived in Peru. He is the patron saint of mixed-race people and all those seeking racial harmony. St. Martin de Porres’ feast day is the 3rd of November.

Godly Play

Godly Play is an amazing tool to help enhance the spiritual growth of our children at St Patricks. Over the last few years we have been building up our own set of resources and some of the staff have been on training so that we can deliver Godly Play sessions in class.

We are now training up our Y5 Prayer Warriors who have begun sharing Godly Play stories in Otters...

At St Patrick's, RE is at the heart of everything that we do. Our journey in RE started with our topic Beginnings. Here is our topic knowledge organiser and some of the learning that we have done.
